Meagflow System Explained
Author: Tom Norris

Megaflo TankWhen I saw the number of queries that consumers placed on Gogle each month for megaflow boilers I figured it might be time to write a short piece in an attempt to clear up some of the misconceptions that homeowners have about megafloes.

For starters, there is no such thing as a megaflow boiler as a megaflow is in fact a stainless steel tank that houses stored hot water as part of a central heating system. The megaflow is basically the modern equivalent to the old hot water tank which are more or less obsolete now because of the introduction of combination boilers. Many smaller homes no longer need to store hot water as the hot water is heated as and when needed by a combi boiler.

Of course there are homes or property where combination boilers are unable to deliver the amount of hot water required. Take a large house for example with 3 bathrooms spread over 3 floors. Whilst a combi may be able to deliver hot water to each bathroom the pressure will most certainly be low and almost certainly useless as a shower if the hot water tap was to be opened anywhere in the house at the same time.

The megaflow system is an add-on in order to store hot water ready to serve at mains pressure. Unlike an old hot water cylinder which was gravity fed the megaflow is fed by the mains which enables a superb hot water flow at any outlet throughout the house. In effect the hot water flow will be just as strong as the cold rising main which will make an excellent shower and fill up the bath in no time.

The downside is mostly based around the cost, about 1,200 installed, and don’t forget you will also need to give up some space to house the actual megaflow tank.

If you are having problems with hot water flow rates a Megaflow System may well be the answer and the best way to find is to click the Get Quotes Icon just below.
